The new, state of the art Cairns Aquarium opened in September 2017 and now YOU can spend the day exploring the world above and under the water with a visit to this must-visit attraction. Full of fun and adventure for all ages to enjoy, Cairns Aquarium will give you a look into the animals that live in both the rainforests and the oceans of Far North Queensland. With a visit here, you'll follow the journey of a drop of rain as it begins an adventure into our rivers and streams, our luscious rainforests, and of course, the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

With an emphasis on life underwater in Tropical North Queensland, there are ten different eco-systems showcasing a range of flora and fauna spread across 70 different habitats. With a number of different presentations throughout the day, including talks on River Monsters, the Ribbon Reef, the Open Ocean and Coral Sea Predators, you'll have a busy and fun day at the aquarium. There are also various Habitat Talks, animal feeding sessions and terrestrial and marine touch tanks that the kids will love. Home to over 15,000 aquatic animals, this is one of Queensland's biggest and best aquariums.

David Ween 3 weeks ago It’s a fantastic Aquarium, although we’re crossing our fingers & hoping more Coral will be clinging to the rocks in the future. Who knows maybe it might be the only place we will be able to see them. They’ll be more valuable than gold. Maybe a few more seats inside the place would be good to slow down the experience. We expected to find a little Cafe inside but Dundee’s was pretty swishy. Hey & if that 3D movie experience had a curved screen so you can’t see the corners, it would be a lot better.

A really well set out aquarium
Sherryl Burgess 3 weeks ago

A really well set out aquarium. With an easy to follow route from fresh water to the reef. Even some reptiles and amphibians too. They were quite hard to find at times. Great camouflage abilities made for a great game of hiding and seek. I really enjoyed my time here. Highly recommended for families.

I totally enjoyed my tour of the Aquarium and the speakers were great

I totally enjoyed my tour of the Aquarium and the speakers were great. Took lots of pictures. If in Cairns I would definitely recommend as a place to visit. It was a nice cool atmosphere inside with lots of colour and variety of displays. I thought the gift shop a bit expensive though.

Thank you Experience Oz

Thank you Experience Oz. You saved us so much money on entry price. Wonderful experience. With what I have saved here I can now use the voucher towards another outing. The aquarium is a new addition in Cairns for us. Last time we vsited it wasn't here. Wow, what an amazing place. So much to see. Like being inside the reef. Would highly recommend visiting.

We love the aquarium

We love the aquarium. But we hope there should more big fishes. Its good options to visit with kids. And something great in Cairns. We would love to go their in future. In future its better if they expand it more. So we can explore more in this aquarium. I will recommend to my all friends.

Just got the standard entry for the Aquarium

Just got the standard entry for the Aquarium. Awesome variety of saltwater and freshwater animals, with knowledgeable guides throughout. My favourite part was either the tunnel aquarium where fish swam overhead, or the playful fish, blue lobsters, and rays.

The experience at the Cairns Aquarium was wonderful
Laura Hicks 3 months ago

The experience at the Cairns Aquarium was wonderful! There was so much to see and the area was huge with plenty of extra activities on offer, for very low prices. There was a lovely staff member ready at a display to teach us about starfish and some baby sharks. Which I thought was a nice bonus that you didn't have to pay for. Loved this experience!

Cairns Aquarium was okay if you have nothing else to do
Belle Chang 3 months ago

Cairns Aquarium was okay if you have nothing else to do. I thought it was going to be better because this aquarium is so close to the Great Barrier Reef but I was disappointed. Better to book a tour to the GBR instead of the true experience. Experience Oz is a good website to book tickets from.

Not really a big aquarium
Marino Hidaka 3 months ago

Not really a big aquarium, that's enough for a couple of hours to see all of them. But really pretty and the staff are very kind. And easy to get there. It's located in the middle of the city. Good for family and little kids to spend time during super hot daytime.

Such a wonderful day
Joe Wilson 4 months ago

Such a wonderful day. Learned a lot about the reef and local waterways in a relaxed and world-class environment. Booking with Experience Oz was quick and easy and saved us over 10% on entry! We will definitely book through this website again for all of our Australian excursions.
