The Cairns Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is one of Tropical North Queensland's true must-do experiences, taking you on a journey aboard a comfortable gondola up, up and away above the canopy of the stunning, Wet Tropics World Heritage listed Rainforest. As the gateway to the iconic "village in the rainforest", Kuranda, the Skyrail spans a 7.5km distance and features several stops for you to disembark and explore along the way, while providing outstanding views over the lush rainforest canopy and all the way out to the waters of the Great Barrier Reef beyond.

The massive expanse of the rainforest takes on a whole new perspective when viewed from this angle, and aboard the Skyrail you'll be able to take in the likes of cascading waterfalls, numerous different types of trees and ferns, and glimpses of regional wildlife. With an overall length of around 45 minutes for the ride itself - but far longer if you take the day to disembark and explore - there are few ways from "getting to A to B" in the world that can offer the type of viewing experience that Queensland's Skyrail Rainforest Cableway can offer, so if you're visiting the Cairns and Port Douglas region then be sure to book YOUR rainforest adventure online today.

The Skyrail was amazing. Had such a great experience we will do it again when we come back to Cairns. Going through the rainforest seeing all the animals in there. And also spending some time in Kuranda at the markets. I highly recommended it to anyone. The staff are friendly and helpful.

We went straight to the ticket office and exchanged or voucher for tickets. Entered the Skyrail cable car and wow. Fantastic way to view the rain forest. Very informative auto guided talk. Beautiful country. Staff extremely friendly. Great photo at the end of the ride.

Took the roundtrip Kuranda Skyrail and loved it
Lydia Fernandez 5 months ago

Took the roundtrip Kuranda Skyrail and loved it! It was easy transportation to the village in Kuranda where there are lots of places to eat and shop. The trip to the village has stops along the way where we could go to lookout points of the rainforest and learn more about it. My friend and I really enjoyed the trip and the rainforest is just beautiful to see.

Great expeerience and view
Cassandra Beutel 8 months ago

Great expeerience and view. I would have rated 5 stars if i had a group... having a group means you will get a carraige all to yourselves and not have to share. If you have 3 or less: i recommend you do this after lunch when its not so busy. My solo trip back was amazing. My trips up resulted in being with three different groups where i had a bad seat everytime and had to crane my neck for a view while in a tiny enclosed place with strangers that were not comfortable with me being there. Definitely recommend the diamond upgrade to aviod this and this and the long line waits..

We booked the Cairns Skyrail
Lisa Punch 12 months ago

We booked the Cairns Skyrail, return trip and Kuranda 3 park pass, including the koalas, butterflies and wildlife park. Other all it was a great day out! We took the time to skip at the 2 different stops on the way back down and the views were worth the stop!

Didn’t see anything special
Amy Blythin 1 year ago

Didn’t see anything special. The cable car was cool but for the price, it simply wasn’t worth it. Go and visit Kuranda by car although there’s not much to see there either. Spent an hour there and I had lunch at that time too! A below average day. The only highlight was Barron Falls. Which again think you can get to from Kuranda (by car).

Awesome activity

Awesome activity. Must on the list to do activity if someone visiting Cairns and likes adventure, scenery lover and of course strong by heart. It takes such a great ride with informative staff on board. Definitely not to miss and will visit again.

We did the Skyrail to Kuranda return
Courtney Coe 2 years ago

We did the Skyrail to Kuranda return. The views were absolutely beautiful from the Skyrail. We also enjoyed the stopovers where we were able to get off and walk through the rainforest and check out the surrounding areas and head out to the viewing platform. I would definitely recommend this for anyone heading to Cairns as it is suitable for all ages.

Kahlia Pepper Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

Experience Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Tropical North Queensland’s “must do” attraction. Glide above the World Heritage listed canopy and discover the world’s oldest continually surviving rainforest..

The one-way Kuranda Scenic Rail up to Kuranda Village and one-way back down from Kuranda Village on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is by far the most popular way to visit this quaint little village in the rainforest. Take your time on the way down and stop off at the 2 base stations where you can stroll along the boardwalks and listen to guided ranger commentary.
